Seek to Find

Seek to find answers to the challenges you have in life. Too many of us have given up, checked out, walked away and disengaged from people and the world around them. Where once we interacted with one another, learned from each other, asked questions and sought to learn and try new things, today we have become distracted and have removed ourselves emotionally and physically from the world in which we live.

Case in point. I was at the Pennsylvania Ballet on Saturday with my wife and mother, and after every intermission the cell phones immediately came on all around the theatre. People didn’t even wait to let the beautiful rendition of the Rite of Spring permeate their soul. When was the last time you looked up and around you instead of looking down? Meaningless and endless texting or talking into your phone all the day long like an alcoholic looks down into the caverns of his liquored glass to see his reflection.

The American Society we live is the wealthiest in world history yet each year we spend over $2 billion dollars on anti-depressants. A society which is unhappy with itself. A people who long for something more than what they see and what they have. The endless thirst to buy more bling. I watch people stick ear phones, which are really ear plugs, into their ears so that they can remove themselves from the world around them. A futile attempt to run from life instead of engaging in it.

As an owner of funeral homes, tragically I have buried people too early in their lives, well before their time. I look around and see an unhappiness, sadness and anger in people. The agape love has been lost.

In 2014 I want to encourage you to embrace life. We are on this earth for such a short period. Seek to find that inner peace and joy. That thing in you that is crying for you to birth. That dream you always wanted to try or do. Remember failure isn’t final. Your history does not have to be your destiny. You can learn to use your stumbling blocks as stepping stones to climb to the destiny God has for you. The question is do you have the courage to step out of your comfort zone, from where you are and Seek to Find before you leave this life.
